Personal

Steph loves all things “earthy”. She enjoys being outside, gardening, painting, doing crafts, kayaking, hiking, hammocking, and swimming with manatees. She became a therapist because she’s always felt her calling was to be in a helper role. After experiencing a serious accident as a teen and “trying out” multiple therapists herself, she understands that finding the right therapist is a huge part of working through the hard stuff. She is fascinated by the brain and body (and how they interact), and feels she’s best able to help by providing someone space to get to know their own internal worlds. She believes everyone has the answers to heal inside themselves, and just need some help getting there! No one should have to be alone in that journey. Steph also loves learning about what makes someone uniquely “themselves”.

Education

Steph grew up in North Branch, Minnesota. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with High Distinction from Concordia University. She then earned a Master of Arts in Marriage and Family Therapy from Saint Mary’s University. After graduate school, Steph worked as a pre-licensed provider until completing the requirements to become a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist.  Steph has completed multiple trainings in ethics, multiculturism, LGBTQIA+ awareness, trauma-informed care, grief, Brainspotting Phase One, and has completed the Internal Family Systems Circle program.

Why Manatee Mental Health (in Minnesota?!)

Manatees are gentle, curious, nurturing, and welcoming. These are all characteristics that Steph strives for as a human and as a therapist. Manatees are also Steph’s favorite animal, and swimming with manatees is where Steph feels the most at peace. MMH hopes that all clients feel welcomed, accepted, and are able to find their own peace!
